In April 2002, Enterprise and Information Society Commissioner Erkki Liikanen went on official visit to China to impart new impetus to the Commission’s ongoing enterprise policy and regulatory dialogue with China, in which they share ideas on how best to improve the regulatory framework for business.

During his five-day visit, Commissioner Erkki Liikanen visited the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China Beijing Chapter and a European factory in Shanghai, where he inaugurated a new European Chamber Shanghai Chapter and an EU-WTO seminar series that supported by the European Chamber and the China-Europe International Business School (read his speech here).

“The Shanghai branch of the EU-China Chamber of Commerce has been opened recently. It follows only a couple of years after the creation of the Chamber in Beijing, and is another sign of the increasing importance of our economic relations. I was pleased to be there.”
